Havre de Grace man dies in crash at I-95 ramp to Beltway

A Havre de Grace man died in an early-morning crash Tuesday on southbound Interstate 95 at the eastbound ramp to Interstate 695, according to Maryland State Police. Police responded to the scene about 6:40 a.m. and found that a pickup truck had collided with a tractor-trailer at the ramp. The driver of the pickup, 62-year-old Harvey Fisher, died at the scene, while the driver of the tractor-trailer, Raymond Shelton Jr., 53, of Lincoln, Del., suffered minor injuries, police said. Troopers say Fisher was driving his pickup south on I-95 in the left lane when he swerved across several lanes, apparently to get to the exit to the Beltway. His vehicle was hit by Shelton's tractor-trailer, then spun out of control and overturned.

Woman killed, 4 injured in multi-car accident

A Chestertown woman was killed and four people were injured Monday in a crash that involved seven vehicles in Severna Park, Anne Arundel County police said. Police identified the victim of the accident, which occurred about noon on the northbound Ritchie Highway south of Cypress Creek Road, as Linda Lee Henschen, 64. Police said she was standing at the back of her Honda Odyssey, which had been involved in a collision. A State Highway Administration emergency technician who had been helping Henschen also was injured. Police said a Jeep, driven by Corey William Zientarsky, 18, of Glen Burnie, was northbound and did not stop behind other vehicles at the Cypress Road traffic light. It collided with the rear of a Volkswagen stopped in the northbound right lane. That set off crashes among four other vehicles at the light, police said. The Jeep then veered to the right and onto the shoulder, hitting Henschen's vehicle and then the pedestrians, according to police. The accident remains under investigation.

Two more homicides added to city's Nov. total

Two more homicides were added to Baltimore's total for November, both victims of violence in previous years who died of their injuries recently. Detectives were notified about the death of Ralph Taylor, a 45-year-old man who was shot in August 1994 in the 100 block of W. Cross St. in the Sharp-Leadenhall neighborhood. Additional details were not immediately available, but The Baltimore Sun reported at the time that a man was shot at West Cross and Race streets. Police said at the time that the man was listed in "guarded condition" and had been shot in the back of the neck; the bullet emerged from his forehead. Police also added the death of Glen Footman, 52, who was shot in September 2008 as he walked with his partner in the 600 block of N. Howard St. The shooting is being treated as a possible hate crime. Police also said that a 26-year-old man shot Monday in the 1000 block of N. Carey St., initially reported as dead, was in critical condition.
