Charges filed in shooting of woman in Baltimore County

November 26, 2009

A gunman who surrendered to police in the shooting of his girlfriend in Parkville has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and using a handgun in a violent crime. Jeffrey Alan Mewbourn, 46, was being held without bail Wednesday at the Baltimore County Detention Center. Mewbourn, who shared an apartment with Joyce Daniels, 44, and her two children in the 1000 block of Halstead Road, is accused of shooting her during a domestic dispute Tuesday. She is expected to survive. Three hours after the shooting, Mewbourn surrendered to police in the Prince George's County community of Beltsville. He was turned over to Baltimore County authorities, who took possession of a handgun that they say Mewbourn used in the shooting.
