Driver sought in fatal hit-run Saturday in Glen Burnie

November 24, 2009

Anne Arundel County police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a Glen Burnie pedestrian early Saturday and left the scene. Matthew Ryan Burgess, 30, of the 1000 block of Stane Road was found about 2 a.m. in the 100 block of W. Ordnance Road, near Roberts Court, police said. According to authorities, Burgess was in the roadway when a vehicle described as either a 1995-2001 Ford Explorer or a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer that was eastbound on West Ordnance Road struck the pedestrian on the driver's side of the vehicle. The victim was pronounced dead at Harbor Hospital. The crash caused the vehicle's turn signal and side mirror to break, police said. They also said there would also be damage to the front quarter panel, and possible damage on the driver's side near the roof support. Police ask that anyone with information contact the department's Traffic Safety Section at 410-222-8573.
