Fire at Linthicum hotel briefly clears one floor of guests

November 23, 2009

A two-alarm fire Sunday morning damaged the Extended Stay America Hotel, at 1500 Aero Drive in Linthicum, Anne Arundel County fire officials said. The fire, reported at 3:11 a.m. by a person staying in a third-floor room who said he smelled smoke, led to the temporary relocation of people on that floor to a nearby hotel, said Lt. Stuart Peters. The fire was contained by 3:38 a.m., and hotel guests were allowed to return later in the morning. The fire was determined to be in the wall of the third-floor guest's room and electrical in nature. No one was injured, and a preliminary damage estimate was about $5,000, Peters said.
