Maryland's run in the NCAA Division I women's soccer tournament ended in the round of 16 with a 1-0 loss to No. 1 seed North Carolina in Chapel Hill. The goal came in the 82nd minute when Carolina's Casey Nogueira converted a throw-in from Jessica McDonald. The Terps finished 14-6-2. ... Erica Sutter (River Hill) scored 1:24 into the game and Johns Hopkins earned a 1-0 victory over visiting Middlebury (14-4-2) in the round of 16 of the Division III women's tournament. The Blue Jays, who reached the Elite 8 for the first time, will face top seed Messiah at 2 p.m. today.

Men: Johns Hopkins (16-4-3) squandered a two-goal second-half lead against top-ranked and defending national champion Messiah (21-1-0) and lost, 3-2, in the round of 16 of the Division III tournament in Grantham, Pa. The Falcons scored the winning goal in the 106th minute.
