Terps recruiting class ranked 15th and 19th best in nation

Maryland's 2010 men's basketball recruiting class of Ashton Pankey, Mychal Parker and Terrell Stoglin is ranked 15th in the nation by Rivals.com and 19th by ESPN.com. "All three players should have an immediate impact on our program," coach Gary Williams said. "They have the maturity and ability to play at a high level." Pankey, 6 feet 9, from Bronx, N.Y., is ranked 36th among power forwards by Scout.com. Parker, a 6-6 small forward from Crozet, Va., is ranked 13th among shooting guards by ESPN.com. Stoglin, 6-1, from Tucson, Ariz., is ESPN.com's 19th-ranked point guard.

Pride of Maryland Tournament: Andrew Farber-Miller scored a game-high 14 points as host Johns Hopkins (1-0) opened its eighth straight season with a 75-73 win over Stevenson (0-2). ... Greg Palmer scored 12 points as Salisbury beat Goucher, 65-63. ... Brendan Straughn (12 points) and J'Air Brady (seven points) each went 1-for-2 from the foul line in the final 20 seconds as Hood (1-0) held on for a 58-55 victory over Washington (0-1). ... Alex Franz scored 14 points to lead visiting St. Mary's (0-1) to an 83-56 victory over McDaniel (0-1).

Women: Loyola's Meredith Tolley (20 points) made six 3-pointers, but the Midshipmen went on an 8-0 run that spanned both halves to beat the Greyhounds, 67-57, in the Navy Classic. ... Corin Adams totaled 17 points as Morgan State (2-1) earned a 58-55 victory over host Seton Hall (2-1) at the Anaconda Sports "The Rock" SHU Classic.
