76ers' Speights to miss 6-8 weeks

November 16, 2009

76ers forward Marreese Speights will miss six to eight weeks with a left knee injury. He was injured in the fourth quarter of a 94-88 loss in Chicago on Saturday night. An MRI on Sunday revealed he has a partial tear of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee. Speights has averaged 13 points and 6.4 rebounds in the first 10 games.

•Warriors swingman Kelenna Azubuike suffered a left patellar tendon injury on Saturday and may be out for an extended period. Azubuike, averaging 13.9 points and five rebounds, met with Frank Chen, the Warriors' orthopedist, who will determine the diagnosis and treatment plan.

•Mavericks center Erick Dampier was taken to a hospital in the Detroit area for further tests after becoming ill before Sunday's game against the Pistons.

•The 55 points Bucks rookie Brandon Jennings scored in Saturday night's win over the Warriors were the most by a rookie since Earl Monroe's 56 in 1968. "I was in a game when Michael (Jordan) had over 60 once with the Bulls," Bucks coach Scott Skiles said. "We just went to our pick-and-roll game and spread the floor and he got hot. Again. (Jennings) had 55 in three quarters. Very, very impressive performance for anyone, let alone a rookie in his seventh game."
