The teenage driver of a truck involved in a serious accident Wednesday on Route 100 has died, Anne Arundel County police said Monday.

Police said Dakota Kelly Alder, 19, of the 7800 block of Dero Drive, Pasadena, died at 4:45 p.m. Friday. Police said that Alder was driving west on Route 100 near the Interstate 97 interchange about 2:30 p.m. and lost control of the truck. It struck the guard rail and flipped. Alder was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, police said.

A passenger, Jordan Joshua Swick, 19, of the 400 block of South Carolina Avenue, Pasadena, was taken in critical condition to the Baltimore Washington Medical Center, police said.

The preliminary investigation points to speed combined with wet road conditions as contributing factors to the accident, police said. The investigation is continuing.
