City police arrest suspect in fatal shooting of man

A man charged in a warrant with first-degree murder in a shooting Nov. 7 in a West Baltimore garage has been arrested, police said. Ravannah Robert Cornish, 27, of the 600 block of N. Kenwood Ave. was arrested Tuesday in the 2700 block of Oswego Ave. and was being held without bail at Central Booking and Intake Center pending a bail review hearing, according to Agent Donny Moses, a city police spokesman. Cornish, who is on parole for an undisclosed crime, was charged in the death of Johnnie Hawkins, 40, of the 3500 block of Richmond Ave. in Northeast Baltimore. Hawkins was shot several times at Superior Auto Makeover Car Wash in the 100 block of S. Payson St., police said. He died the next day at Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Police did not know the motive for the shooting.
