Waterfowl Festival

Where: : Easton; follow signs to free parking and then use the continuous free bus service to visit the exhibits.

When: : 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 15

What: : The three-day festival celebrates and includes art, music, food, wine, games and more. Displays offer fine art to folk art, photographs, paintings and decorative wood carvings and decoys.

Demonstrations include sharpshooting, a birds of prey flight show, and duck and goose callers competing in World Championship Calling Contests.

Other activities include a competition for dogs to see which can fly the farthest or highest from a dock into a pool of water; demonstrations of retriever skills by trained hunting dogs; a kids fishing derby; displays of the latest gear, accessories and gadgets for hunting, fishing and marine sports; and a wildlife puppet show.

How much: : Admission is $10, good for one, two or all three days of the event. Children age 12 and under accompanied by an adult are free.

Proceeds from the event go to Chesapeake Bay-area environmental protection and education projects.

What's nearby: : Talbot County is called the "Hamptons of the Chesapeake Bay," with attractive nearby destinations including Oxford, St. Michaels and Tilghman Island.
