Harford deputy fatally shoots man armed with knife

A Bel Air man died after being shot Saturday by a Harford County deputy who was responding to a domestic dispute, a police spokeswoman said. Lt. Christina Presberry said the Harford County Sheriff's Department received a call about noon for a domestic argument in the 1000 block of Ellicott Drive in Bel Air. The suspect, a 23-year-old man, threatened a responding police officer with a knife. The officer felt his life was threatened and fired at the suspect, police said. The suspect was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, where he died Saturday afternoon. The officer, who has served in the sheriff's office for five years, was not injured. Police declined to identify the officer or the suspect.

Two firefighters injured in Charles Village blaze

Two city firefighters were injured during a two-alarm fire Saturday morning in Charles Village. Fire Department spokesman Capt. Roman Clark said firefighters responded to a blaze in two structures in the 2500 block of N. Charles St., including one restaurant, at 7:40 a.m. Saturday. Heavy smoke was also pouring from an adjacent building. Fire officials said that the properties appeared to be vacant. One of the injured firefighters was treated at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center's burn center and released; the second was treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital's Wilmer Eye Institute. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Two men injured in separate city shootings

Two adult men were shot in separate incidents Saturday night in Northeast Baltimore, city police said. In the first incident, the victim was shot in the back about 7:10 p.m. in the 1700 block of Ramblewood Road, according to spokesman Donny Moses. About 10:30 p.m., another man was shot in the stomach in the 6100 block of Belle Vista Ave. The victims' names were not released, and no additional details were available.
