Police seek information in shooting of Glen Burnie man
A 25-year-old Glen Burnie man was shot in the back about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Woodhill Drive, Anne Arundel County police said. The man was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment of a wound that police said did not appear to be life-threatening. Police knew of no suspect or motive. Anyone with information on the shooting was asked to call the Northern District police station at 410-222-6135.

Talbot day care provider arrested in infant's death
A Talbot County day care provider was arrested Wednesday night in connection with the September death of an infant in her care, Maryland State Police say. Gail Dobson, 52, of the 3800 block of Harrison Court in Trappe, is charged with manslaughter, first-degree child abuse resulting in death and other related charges. She is being held at Talbot County Detention Center on $750,000 bond. The Dorchester County baby, 9-month-old Trevor Ulrich, died Sept. 3. His death was ruled a homicide, the result of head trauma that is associated with shaken baby syndrome, police said. On Sept. 2, Dobson called 911 about 3 p.m., saying that Trevor was having trouble breathing, police said. Paramedics took the child, who was in cardiac arrest, to Easton Memorial Hospital, and Trevor was later flown to Children's Hospital in Washington, where he was pronounced dead Sept. 3.

Police probe armed robbery of Crofton convenience store
Clerks at a Paceway convenience store in Crofton were robbed at gunpoint about 10 p.m. Wednesday, Anne Arundel County police said. A man with a dark-colored handgun entered the store in the 1300 block of Defense Highway and demanded cash, police said. The clerks complied, and the robber ran away, police said.

Hotel owner pleads guilty in carbon monoxide case
The owner of an Ocean City boardwalk hotel where a carbon monoxide leak sickened several people over the summer has pleaded guilty to failure to provide carbon monoxide detectors. Salvatore Rinaldi, owner of the Americana Hotel, pleaded guilty to the 10 counts on Thursday in Ocean City District Court. He also agreed to donate $10,000 to the Ocean City Fire Department to help with its CO detector outreach programs. On Aug. 11, the Americana was evacuated after high levels of carbon monoxide were detected in the building. According to the Ocean City Fire Marshal's Office, CO detectors were not installed in the hotel's rooms.

Police seeking suspect in assault try on MICA student
Baltimore police and security officers at Maryland Institute College of Art were seeking a man who broke into a student's dormitory room early Wednesday and tried to sexually assault her. Detective Kevin Hagan, a city police spokesman, said the 18-year-old woman was asleep in her room at the Commons Building in the 100 block of McMechen St. about 1 a.m. when she was awakened by someone standing over her bed. The student reported she thought it was someone she knew until he pulled down her pants and touched her. She told police she turned on a light and the intruder fled out a window. MICA issued a security alert to students. Police patrols have been increased. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call city police at 410-396-2411 or campus police at 443-423-3333.
