Three Things That Could Go Wrong

October 16, 2009|By JAMISON HENSLEY

1 Ravens red-zone struggles. Over the past two weeks, Joe Flacco has thrown as many interceptions in the red zone (two) as the offense has scored touchdowns there. Minnesota has the league's best red-zone defense, giving up four touchdowns in 13 series inside the 20-yard line.

2 Vikings break long returns. Minnesota can dominate the field-position battle with kickoff returner Percy Harvin (31.2-yard average) and punt returner Darius Reynaud (17.3). This is the game in which the Ravens could miss Brendon Ayanbadejo.

3 Brett Favre lights up Ravens. The past three Pro Bowl quarterbacks who have started against the Ravens this season (Philip Rivers, Tom Brady and Carson Palmer) have averaged 321 passing yards.
