Health Officials Seek Legionnaires' Source

"Our first concern is the health of our residents," he said. "We've directed them to do the only thing we can do, which is see their doctor if they become sick. We're extremely concerned with and distressed and sorry for the people suffering with this disease, and they're in our prayers."

Juanita Price's parents live in the Ednor building, and because they are in their 80s and both have recently been sick with other maladies she didn't plan to wait for new symptoms. She was planning to take them for checkups.

"It's just a precaution," said Price, who visits every day. "You only get one set of parents."

Legionnaires' disease

* This form of pneumonia is caused by Legionella bacteria, often found in water sources such as hot tubs, cooling towers or air-conditioning systems, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.

* Symptoms include high fever, chills, dry cough, shortness of breath, muscle aches, diarrhea, fatigue, headache and abdominal pain.

* The disease can be treated with antibiotics.
