Geaton Caltabiano Mount St. Joseph, soccer

The senior All-Metro center midfielder is more often the Gaels' playmaker, but he scored both goals in last week's 2-1 upset of then-No. 1 McDonogh, which had won 38 straight IAAM A Conference games and was ranked No. 1 in the nation in both the NSCAA/Adidas and ESPN Rise polls. He has six goals and seven assists this season. A club player with the Casa Mia Bays, who won national titles in 2007 and 2008, Caltabiano has a 3.5 grade-point average and has narrowed his college choices to Wake Forest, St. John's, Towson, UMBC and Loyola.

Elizabeth Tauber John Carroll, cross country

The junior standout captured Bel Air's Bobcat Invitational on Saturday, covering the 3.1-mile course at Jerusalem Mill in 18 minutes, 22 seconds to defeat Century's Maura Linde, who finished second with a time of 18:35. Tauber, a first-team All-Metro selection last year, has won two of three races this season against Linde, who was last season's All-Metro Runner of the Year. In four invitational races this season, Tauber has won two and finished second in the other two, also winning two Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference races. The defending IAAM A Conference individual champion went undefeated against league competition last year.
