Duo's Teamwork Gets Job Done

Football No. 3 Arundel 38, Annapolis 7

Two Click With Moves That Lead To Three Touchdowns

Billy Cosh knew that his team's game against Annapolis last night was a big one. Fortunately for Cosh, he knew just where to look for instant offense.

The senior quarterback, who is headed to Kansas State to play football next year, found receiver Ronnie Harris for touchdown catches of 43, 3 and 34 yards to lead host and No. 3 Arundel (5-0, 5-0) to a 38-7 win over the Panthers (4-1, 4-1) in an Anne Arundel County League game.

The duo combined for three touchdowns and 179 yards in the win.

"We both tried out for quarterback our freshman year, and he beat me out," said Harris. "I decided to switch to receiver, and we've been clicking ever since."

With Arundel leading 7-0 in the first quarter, the tandem went to work. Cosh found Harris wide open on a post pattern and hit him in stride with a 43-yard pass to make it 14-0 with 1:48 left in the first quarter.

Early in the second quarter, Cosh found him again, first hitting him on second and 13 with a 14-yard strike at the Annapolis 17, then again two plays later from three yards out to make the lead 21-0 with 11:03 left in the first half.

Their most impressive strike may have been with 3:26 left in the third quarter. Cosh faked a handoff, then dropped a tight spiral over the Panthers' defense and into Harris' arms in the middle of the end zone.

The touchdown made the lead 28-0, and put the game out of reach.

"I saw the safetys creeping up, and I knew it was time to go deep," said Cosh. "That play has worked very well for us, and it sure worked tonight.":

Joseph Blackwell had 93 yards rushing on 21 carries to lead Arundel. Demond Brown's 77 yards on 21 carries paced the Panthers.
