By the way, crab cakes made with the famous recipe are sold on Angelina's Web site, crabcake.com. It's a separate business and wasn't part of the deal.

New in Little Italy : My theories about the kinds of restaurants that open in a recession took another blow when I heard about a restaurant opening in Little Italy where Petalo's was at 1002 Eastern Ave. - perhaps as early as November. The self-styled eclectic, upscale Italian restaurant and ultra lounge will be called Milan; and judging from its help-wanted ad on craigslist, it will also serve sushi.

I've heard that the chef will be Bruce Allen from the Golf Club at South River in Edgewater, but I haven't been able to confirm anything. As usual, owners (and chefs) are slow to return my calls until their restaurants are up and running. But because as critic I want to stay anonymous, I have to do all my reporting by phone.
