Police identify woman found stabbed near park

Baltimore police have identified a woman who was found fatally stabbed early Friday near Clifton Park, and a department spokesman said investigators were questioning "persons of interest" in the case. According to police, Shantel Brown, 31, was found with several stab wounds about 1:15 a.m. near Sinclair Lane and North Chester Street, less than a block from her home. She was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A witness reported hearing Brown arguing with the father of her children between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Thursday, said Agent Donny Moses, the police spokesman. Shortly after midnight Brown returned to her home, and she was not seen alive again, Moses said.

Pasadena man accused of using syringe in robbery

A 31-year-old Pasadena man was charged with armed robbery and second-degree assault after police said he stole items from a Walmart and tried to stab a security officer with a hypodermic needle on a syringe last week. Police said Skipper Lee Thomas of the 8000 block of Abbey Court stole several items about noon Friday from the Walmart in the 400 block of George Clauss Blvd. in Severn. As Thomas attempted to leave the store, the security officer confronted him. Thomas pulled the syringe from his pocket and tried to stab the guard in the face, according to police. Thomas fled the store, but the security officer got the tag number of his vehicle, police said. Thomas was arrested later at his home. He was also charged with theft of less than $500 and possession of a deadly weapon, according to police.

Teens denied bail in shooting of officer

Two teens accused of shooting a Baltimore police officer were denied bail Monday, a development that occurred as the officer's condition worsened from serious to critical. Kevon Wilson and Craig Tillett, both 16 and charged as adults, will remain in custody. Police said they attempted to rob Detective Aaron Harris as he entered his Northwest Baltimore home late Thursday. Tillett's family attended Monday's hearing but declined comment to a reporter's questions afterward. A preliminary hearing for the suspects is scheduled for Oct. 8. Harris, 39, was shot three times in the abdomen and lower left leg, and he returned fire at his attackers, according to police. Tillett later walked into Sinai Hospital with a bullet wound to the leg and was questioned by investigators, police say. The officer's condition was recently downgraded from serious to critical, according to a police spokesman.
