City's Coxson, Poly's Goodson and Ali-El could return soon

City quarterback Adrian Coxson, who suffered a shoulder injury in Friday's victory over Walbrook, could be back in the Knights' lineup within a couple of weeks, he said Sunday night. The senior said the injury is a small ligament tear in his left shoulder that happened on a hard tackle after he had passed the ball. Coxson has filled a void at quarterback for the Knights, although he has committed to Penn State as a wide receiver. City coach George Petrides said Coxson will see a doctor today who specializes in sports medicine.

More football: : A couple of Poly football players injured in Friday night's win over Patterson also could return to the field soon. Quarterback Antoine Goodson suffered a separated right shoulder, and tailback Gabriel Ali-El had a mild concussion. Poly coach Roger Wrenn said Goodson could be out for about 10 days. Ali-El will return as soon as he is released by his family doctor, which, Wrenn said, could be in less than a week. - Katherine Dunn
