Baltimore County will operate a Recovery Service Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Watersedge Community Center in Dundalk to assist homeowners with insurance and other problems stemming from the recent water main break.

Staff from the county's Office of Community Conservation and state representatives will offer help to residents coping with damages associated with the flooding from the Sept. 18 incident. They will interview residents and take applications in an effort to determine what government financial resources might be available.

"Baltimore County will stand with the people of this historic community as they put their lives back together," County Executive James T. Smith Jr. said. "In those cases where residents have been unsuccessful in having an insurance claim approved, we will work with homeowners to identify county and state resources to help them move forward."

More than 100 homes in the neighborhood were flooded. To date, 38 Dundalk homeowners have contacted the Maryland Insurance Administration with concerns over their home insurance policies. The agency is reviewing reports from several homeowners that their insurance carrier had denied their claims. Many other claims are pending.

The community center is at 7894 Dundalk Ave.
