RAVENS NOTEBOOK

"Not too hot," Washington said when asked how he felt. "A little lightheaded but nothing more than that. ... I really don't know [about whether he had suffered a concussion]. I'll have to see it tomorrow [Monday]."

Disputed call

Trevor Pryce disputed referee Tony Corrente's decision to flag the defensive end for roughing-the-passer late in the second quarter.

Although the penalty did not aid the Chargers, who had marched to the Ravens' 1 on the same play, Pryce said he did not hit Rivers in the helmet as Corrente later asserted.

"He's 6-foot-6. [Actually, 6-5.] He's as tall as I am," Pryce said. "All I did was run into him with my body straight ahead. The fact that he's 6-foot-6 like I am makes it look bad. If he was 6-foot-2, I hit him over the top and his head hits my chest."

Last line of defense

Steve Hauschka earned a highlight, and it had nothing to do with his field-goal-kicking prowess.

The kicker forced the Chargers' Darren Sproles out of bounds, limiting what might have been a touchdown-scoring, game-changing play to a 53-yard kickoff return to the Ravens' 42-yard line after Washington's touchdown catch.

"He broke it out to the outside and the next thing I knew, I was chasing him with one other guy in front of him," said Hauschka, who kicked a 33-yard field goal and converted all four extra-point attempts. "The sideline was on my side there. The next thing I knew, Sproles ran through the side, and I was able to push him out of bounds. Luckily, I didn't have to tackle him in the open field because I don't know if my skills would have matched up with his."

End zone

The Ravens deactivated tight end L.J. Smith (pulled left hamstring), offensive tackles Oniel Cousins and Tony Moll, defensive tackle Brandon McKinney, safety Tom Zbikowski (concussion), rookie linebacker-defensive end Paul Kruger and rookie linebacker Dannell Ellerbe. John Beck was the third quarterback. ... San Diego played without three offensive starters in running back LaDainian Tomlinson (sprained right ankle), center Nick Hardwick (ankle) and right guard Louis Vasquez (knee). The Chargers also deactivated defensive end Travis Johnson (groin), wide receiver Buster Davis, linebacker Antwan Applewhite and safety C.J. Spillman. Charlie Whitehurst was the third quarterback. Ogemdi Nwagbuo started for Jamal Williams, the defensive tackle who was placed in injured reserve Saturday with a torn triceps. ... Free safety Ed Reed, tight end Todd Heap and punter Sam Koch represented the Ravens for the coin toss.
