Southeastern Baltimore
Assault: Police arrested a man about 7 p.m. Thursday moments after he was seen spraying the windows of moving vehicles with a chemical irritant on East Pratt Street near the Perkins Homes. One female motorist suffered a minor eye injury when sprayed. Ground units, aided by the crew of a police helicopter, captured the man on South Caroline Street near Gough Street. Assault charges were pending.
Northeastern Baltimore
Arrests: Two men were arrested shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday, moments after a man was fatally shot in the 3400 block of Cliftmont Ave. The two have been charged with unlawful possession of a handgun. Police said the men were in a car that sped off after the man, Gerard S. Thomas, 24, of the 500 block of Sheridan Ave., was shot about 8:45 p.m. A search of the car revealed a large-caliber handgun. Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene. The gun is being tested to see if it was used in the slaying. Homicide charges against the men were pending test results.
Armed robbery: A gunman entered Popeye's in the 6600 block of Belair Road about 10 p.m. Wednesday, forced employees to the floor, then ordered the manager to an office. There, the manager was ordered to give the gunman an undisclosed sum of money from a safe.
Northwestern Baltimore
Robbery try/shooting: A man was walking along Gwynns Falls Parkway near Mondawmin Mall about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday when a gunman demanded his money. When the victim turned to flee, the gunman shot him in the right buttock before fleeing. The victim got a ride to University of Maryland Medical Center, where he was reported in good conddition.
Baltimore Co. -- Essex
Robbery: A gunman robbed the Dunkin' Donuts in the 8800 block of Pulaski Highway of an undisclosed sum of money about 4:20 p.m. Wednesday and escaped in a red sport utility vehicle.
Baltimore Co. -- Franklin
Thefts: Police were seeking at least two persons who stole a 1997 Honda Civic with tags 6EK S80 from a garage in the 10000 block of Mill Run Circle early Wednesday, then broke into several other vehicles in the garage and removed their air bags and drove off in the stolen vehicle.
