Herrick's goal in overtime lifts No. 1 Maryland over Cal

Jason Herrick scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime in the 96th minute on a feed from Drew Yates, to lift the No. 1 Maryland men's team over No. 8 California, 2-1, on a rainy Sunday night at Ludwig Field. Herrick's goal with 4:41 elapsed in the game provided Maryland (1-1) with the early lead, and Cal tied it at 77:31. "It was a great response from Friday's difficult loss" against UCLA, Terps coach Sasho Cirovski said. "Once again we played well in the first half, and this time we rewarded ourselves with one goal. Our guys stood tall and came back with their own great response in overtime. I think we grew up a lot tonight."

Loyola men: : Despite taking a combined 42 shots, neither the Greyhounds (1-1-1) nor host Quinnipiac (0-0-2) could find the net on Monday. Kyle Wittman made three saves for Loyola and recorded his first college shutout.
