Competition will be held in men's and women's divisions in these age groups: 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; 80-84; 85-89;90-94 and 95 plus. If participant numbers are insufficient, groups may be combined for competition purposes. Medals will be awarded within each division and age category for the top three finishers, with ribbons for fourth to sixth place.
Participation is open only to Maryland residents ages 50 and older who live, work or own property in Maryland.

Photo submissions
The deadline for photograph submissions for the show "Local Lens: Images of South County and the Bay" at the Capt. Salem Avery Museum, 1418 E. West Shady Side Road, has been extended to Sept. 13. Photographs should focus on South County or the Chesapeake Bay, be at least 8 inches in one dimension, have been taken this summer and be framed or matted. Historic house tours
The Ann Arrundell County Historical Society has opened the historic Benson-Hammond House and North Browse and Buy Shoppe at Aviation Boulevard and Andover Road in Linthicum for the season. Tours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays. Group tours are given by appointment.
The house and outbuildings interpret the agricultural heritage of northern Anne Arundel County. A collection of dolls from around the world is also on display.
The Kuethe Library for Historical and Genealogical Research at 5 Crain Highway S.E., operated jointly with the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday year-round. Information: 410-760-9679.
