September arrives on Tuesday, and with it comes the official start of meteorological autumn. Temperatures begin to cool, with average daily highs sliding from 82 degrees to 73. Average overnight lows fall from 61 degrees to a chilly 51. The record high is still triple-digit - 101 degrees on Sept. 7, 1881 - but the lowest low is 35, on Sept. 25, 1963. The wettest September in Baltimore was in 1934, with 12.41 inches of rain. The driest was in 1884, with .09 inch.
