CRAB SOUP STAKES: Restaurant Week kicks off with a crabby competition at the Harborplace Amphitheater, Light and Pratt streets, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Whether you're a cream-based devotee or prefer tomato-based crab soups, there'll be samples for both camps. Attendees get to vote for their favorites from area restaurants. The event is free. Call 410-332-4191 or go to harborplace.com.

WTMD'S FIRST THURSDAYS IN THE PARK: "Listen for the music, look for the monument." In this case, listen for Evan Watson and Ms. Sara and the Help at the Washington Monument in Mount Vernon. Free. 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Go to WTMD.org

METRO STATION: Shake it with the California-based pop band at Six Flags America, 13710 Central Ave. in Mitchellville, at 6 p.m. The band may be best known for its members' relationship to "Hannah Montana" stars. Trace Cyrus (Miley's brother) and Mason Musso (brother to Mitchel Musso who plays Oliver) front. Evan Taubenfeld also performs. Tickets are included with park admission, which ranges from $25-$50. TANGO ELEMENT: This is the start of a four-day Argentine tango festival featuring an array of renowned international instructors and performances by five pairs of dancers. Instructors are also holding weekend-long workshops for those interested in learning this dramatic dance. The event takes place at the Tremont Plaza Hotel, 222 St. Paul Place, at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $10-$45 per event. Go to www.tangoelement.org.
