Ravens Training Camp

August 01, 2009

RATING THE RECEIVERS: : Demetrius Williams had several good catches, including an over-the-shoulder reception of a pass from Joe Flacco. Mark Clayton also caught a few balls, but he was also flagged for offensive pass interference. Justin Harper dropped an easy pass on a deep post route that drew a stomped foot from wide receivers coach Jim Hostler.

CATCH OF THE DAY: : Williams' catch was nice, but the award should be shared by tight end Todd Heap and running back Ray Rice. Heap snagged a pass from Flacco that was thrown behind him, and Rice made a one-handed grab on an underneath route from Troy Smith.

GETTING A LEG UP: : Kicker Steven Hauschka went 4-for-6 on field-goal tries during the morning session, and his attempt from 55 yards fell just short. A 36-yard try sailed wide left, prompting linebacker Terrell Suggs to yell, "Hey, bring in No. 7." No. 7, also known as rookie Graham Gano, made all six of his attempts.

PLAY OF THE DAY: : A pass from Flacco seemed destined to be intercepted by Lardarius Webb or K.J. Gerard, but the quarterback put enough zip on the ball to thread the two defenders and have it land in the hands of wide receiver Biren Ealy.

OPENING DAY JITTERS: : In addition to Clayton's pass interference, the offense was flagged for six false starts, with the receiving group of Clayton, Heap, Marcus Smith, Edgar Jones and Davon Drew each moving early once. Linebacker Jarret Johnson's offside call was the only blemish for the defense.

BEST QUOTE: : "Hey, he's not going to have that much time to throw." - Suggs consoling cornerback Frank Walker on Williams' over-the-shoulder grab from Flacco.

TODAY'S SCHEDULE: : Practices begin at 8:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m., and both are scheduled to run about two hours.
