Harding's late free throws lift Mystics over Liberty, 68-67

Lindsey Harding scored 23 points, including two free throws with 8.2 seconds left, to lead the Washington Mystics (7-6) to a 68-67 victory over the visiting New York Liberty (4-8) in the WNBA on Saturday night. Harding had seven rebounds and five assists for the Mystics, who got 13 points from Alana Beard and seven points apiece from former Maryland stars Marissa Coleman and Crystal Langhorne.

69 earns Bajkowski medal at Match Play qualifying

Two-time champion Lance Bajkowski shot a 2-under-par 69 at Clifton Park Golf Course to win the medal in the qualifying round of the Match Play championship of the Baltimore Municipal Golf Corporation. Former Publinx champions Brad Foxwell and Rusty McCready followed at 70.

Freedom: : Homare Sawa scored her first goal of the season as the host Washington Freedom (5-6-5) earned a 1-0 win over St. Louis Athletica (7-6-2) in Women's Professional Soccer. Sawa's low, deflected shot in the 74th minute eluded goalkeeper Jillian Loyden at the near post.

D.C. United: : Bryan Namoff redeemed himself after knocking a ball into his own net, scoring the tiebreaking goal in the 56th minute to lead United (6-3-9) to a 3-1 Major League Soccer win over the visiting Colorado Rapids (6-5-6). Namoff's header off Christian Gomez's corner kick beat screened Rapids goalkeeper Matt Pickens. The goal was the third of Namoff's 187-game MLS career.

Bayhawks: : Washington (3-6) gave up 10 goals in the second half and fell to the Denver Outlaws, 11-8, in Major League Lacrosse at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

Capitals: : Washington traded defenseman Keith Seabrook to the Flames for future considerations.
