Water quality sampling results for 105 county beaches are available on the Anne Arundel County Department of Health's Web site at aahealth.org or call the Water Quality Phone Line at 410-222-7999 for an information-only line that operates 24 hours a day. The phone line and Web site also provide emergency closings of local waterways.

Spanish-language line

A Spanish-speaking operator will answer calls to the Aprenda a Vivir Spanish Language Line of the Anne Arundel County Health Department at 410-222-4479, 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays. Callers can leave messages at other times. Information about community health services and free Spanish-language informational materials are available.

Free sports physicals : Anne Arundel County Department of Health will provide free sports physicals for high school students at the following health centers:

* North County Health Services, 791 Aquahart Road, Suite 200, Glen Burnie. Call 410-222-6625 for an appointment: 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 3 for boys; 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Aug. 4 for girls; 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 20 for boys; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 12 for boys and girls.

* Parole Health Center, 1950 Drew St., Annapolis. Call 410-222-7247 for an appointment: 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 11 for boys and 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. for girls.

Each student must bring an Anne Arundel County public schools pre-participation physical evaluation form signed by a parent or guardian. Forms are available from county public high schools or at aahealth.org. Click the "calendar of events" icon at the bottom of the home page and go to "high school sports physicals."
