Baseball Camp

The Eagle Baseball School, geared toward boys ages 9-14, will hold a camp July 31 through Aug. 4 at Centennial High School, 4300 Centennial Lane. The camp offers:

* Station instruction and drills that emphasize improvements in throwing, hitting, fielding, base running, pitching, catching and strategy.

* Coaches to analyze players' skills on an individual basis.

* Modified scrimmages and contests.

* Demonstrations from top players and coaches in the area.

Football and cheerleading

The Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks is accepting registrations for Elkridge Hurricanes flag and tackle football and cheerleading.

Flag football, for ages 5-6, is $85; tackle football, for ages 7-14, is $160; cheerleading, for ages 5-14, is $125. Practice begins in August at Elkridge Landing Middle School, 7085 Montgomery Road.

Tackle football participants are placed on teams based on age and weight.

Master gardening advice

Master gardeners will answer questions about plants and gardening from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Mondays and 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays at the Miller library, 9421 Frederick Road, Ellicott City.

Music Matters Showcase

Soccer registration

Registration is open for the Elkridge Youth Organization fall soccer league. Cost is $65 for U6/U7 clinic and $75 for U8 through U18. Regular registration ends July 30, late registration ends Aug. 31. EYO Soccer is a co-ed program that places an emphasis on instruction, fitness and fun. Sunset Serenades

Howard County Recreation and Parks presents local and national bands at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at Centennial Park. The Deb Callahan Band is there Wednesday and the Unity Reggae Band performs July 29. Admission is free, $3 per car for parking. For directions and more information, call 410-313-4640.

Stretch and pray clinic

Isometric exercises, deep breathing and stretching postures, scriptural reflection and meditation will be combined in 90-minute sessions on Thursdays from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. through Aug. 13 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3604 Chatham Road.
