German-style music

The Old Stein Inn offers musical entertainment from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays at the Biergarten/Bierstube Restaurant, 1143 Central Ave. East in Edgewater. Rowing classes

The Annapolis Rowing Club is offering Learn to Row classes in sweep rowing in eight-person shells with coxswains. Experienced club members teach rowing fundamentals and safety procedures. Equipment includes shells for eight and four rowers and coxswains, as well as sculling boats for one-four rowers. Those who complete the course will be eligible to participate in the club's novice rowing program beginning July 20.

Rowers can choose from among four sessions, each consisting of four two-hour lessons held from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. over two consecutive weekends. Classes will be held at the St. John's College boathouse and on College Creek, Saturday and July 12 and July 18 and 19. The cost is $170. Classes are geared for those with no rowing experience. Participants must be 13 or older.

Summer hours

The Banneker-Douglass Museum, 84 Franklin St. in Annapolis, is operating on its summer schedule. Hours remain in effect through Sept. 6:

Sundays: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Mondays and Tuesdays: closed.

Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Thursdays: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Belly-dancing classes

Classes for beginners, intermediate and advanced dancers will be held 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesdays through July 29 at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, 801 Chase St. in Annapolis. Cost is $145. Call 410-263-5544 or go to marylandhall.org.

Musical auditions

The Pasadena Theatre Company will hold auditions for the fall musical production of Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up, based on a novel by John R. Powers. Auditions will be held at 11 a.m. July 18 and 7 p.m. July 20 at the Abundant Life Church, 7305 E. Furnace Branch Road in Glen Burnie. Performance dates are Sept. 26 through Oct. 11 at the Chesapeake Arts Center, 194 Hammonds Lane in Brooklyn Park. Youth sports fall sign-up

Family activities

The Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department offers activities for children and families at the recreation center, 9 St. Mary's St.

Summer camp registration is being accepted. Day camps, kids' camps and an Xtreme Teen Camp are available.

Historic house tours

The Ann Arrundell County Historical Society has opened the historic Benson-Hammond House and North Browse and Buy Shoppe at Aviation Boulevard and Andover Road in Linthicum for the season.

Tours are offered from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays. Group tours are given by appointment.

The house and outbuildings interpret the agricultural heritage of northern Anne Arundel County.

The Kuethe Library for Historical and Genealogical Research at 5 Crain Highway S.E., operated jointly with the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday year-round. Information: 410-760-9679.

Day camp

The Tawes Garden in Annapolis offers a Natural Resources Club Day Camp for children ages 6 to 9 and 10 to 12 who enjoy the outdoors and are interested in nature.

Camps will be held 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and include nature crafts and activities and field trips to parks and nature centers. Camps for ages 6 to 9 are July 20-24 and July 27-31. Cost is $140.

Camp for ages 10 to 12 is July 13-17 and costs $160.

Camps are limited to 12 children. Applications are available in the Tawes Garden Gift Shop and online at www.dnr.state.md.us/public lands/tawesgarden.html.
