Play It Again

Two for Abreu

Bobby Abreu was just 2-for-15 against the Orioles' Jeremy Guthrie heading into Thursday's game. Abreu proceeded to drive in four of the Angels' five runs with two long balls. He hit a solo shot in the fourth inning and a three-run blast in the fifth, two of Guthrie's few mistakes over seven otherwise solid innings.

Bats kept at bay

Thirty-two straight Orioles had been retired spanning Wednesday and Thursday's games when Robert Andino reached on a line single off Angels starter John Lackey with two outs in the third. The Orioles' offense didn't do much else, and was limited to two runs and four hits over eight innings by the Angels' ace. The top four hitters in the order - Brian Roberts, Adam Jones, Nick Markakis and Aubrey Huff - went a combined 1-for-16.

On deck

At 9:05 tonight, Orioles rookie right-hander Jason Berken (1-5, 6.44) will oppose Angels rookie right-hander Sean O'Sullivan (2-0, 3.00). Sullivan, 21, yielded three earned runs or fewer in all three of his starts but has allowed two homers in each of his past two outings. Berken has lost five straight decisions.
