First-round leader Josh Eure, from Crofton, shot a 72 for a 36-hole total of 142 and won an unprecedented third consecutive Maryland State Golf Association Junior Amateur championship at the Country Club at Woodmore. The recent South River High graduate was followed by Alex Church, 15, from Timonium, who finished with a total 149. Ryan Cole of Mount Airy was third with a total of 150.

More golf: : Mark Sheftic shot a 70 to keep the lead after the three rounds of the PGA Professional National Championship in Santa Ana Pueblo, N.M. Sheftic, 34, of Ambler, Pa., was at 8-under-par 205 heading into Thursday's final round. Dirk Schultz of Hagerstown is tied for 19th at 1-under 212. ... Stephanie Connelly of Pasadena, a University of Central Florida golfer who made a name for herself during the NCAA tournament at Caves Valley Golf Course in Owings Mills, has been playing on the Duramed Futures Tour. Connelly made the cut in each of her first two professional events.
