Arundel Police Fatally Shoot Man

A man was shot and killed by Anne Arundel County police on Monday after threatening employees with a box cutter at a business park in Severn, near BWI Thurgood Marshall airport, police said.

Police received a call at about 2:25 p.m. about a fight at Trojan Alarm Solutions Inc., according to Justin Mulcahy, a police spokesman.

After arriving at the BWI Commerce Park in the 2600 block of Cabover Drive, officers spent five or 10 minutes talking to the suspect and ordering him to drop the box cutter, Mulcahy said. When he did not comply, police fired shots, striking the suspect.

He was taken to Baltimore-Washington Medical Center. where he was pronounced dead, Mulcahy said.

It was not immediately clear if the man was an employee or a customer of the alarm business, housed in a one-story office park.

An unidentified male company employee was taken to Baltimore-Washington Medical Center with minor injuries, police said.

Police evacuated neighboring businesses during the standoff.
