Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in his 20s Wednesday night in Southeast Baltimore, a department spokesman said.

Officers responding to a report of a shooting about 11:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Mason Court, in the Perkins Homes public housing complex, found the man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the neck, said Agent Donny Moses, the spokesman. The man was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:55 p.m., according to Moses.

No further information about the incident was available.

Separately, city police said Thursday that the death of a man whose body was found in a burning house this week has been ruled a homicide.

Police spokeswoman Detective Nicole Monroe said the victim was Edward Mark Davis, 39, who had no known last address.

Police were also investigating a shooting and a stabbing in Northwest Baltimore.

A 21-year-old man was shot in the neck and left shoulder about 9:13 p.m. Wednesday in the 2900 block of Rosalind Ave. According to Moses, the man was walking with a companion when he encountered another man arguing with a woman.

The victim, whom police did not identify, made a comment about the woman, and the man began arguing with him. The victim left the area but returned later and resumed arguing with the man, who then took out a silver gun and shot him, Moses said.

Meanwhile, a 65-year-old man was stabbed about 5:15 a.m. Thursday in the 3700 block of Dolfield Ave., police said. Further details were not available.

In other news, police arrested a West Baltimore man suspected of fatally shooting a 25-year-old man last year.

Dante Jeter, 21, of the 3700 block of E. Pratt St. was arrested Tuesday and faces first-degree murder and other charges in the May 4, 2008, death of Tyrone Freeman of the 4800 block of Frankford Ave.
