Pasadena man arrested in Glen Burnie store robberies

Anne Arundel County police have arrested a Pasadena man who they suspect robbed clerks earlier this month at two Glen Burnie stores. Edward Alvah Tharp, 49, of the 3500 block of Lochearn Court faces nine counts that include armed robbery and theft. He was jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail. Police suspect him in three robberies in which store clerks were ordered at knifepoint to give a robber cash: one at 4:20 a.m. June 6 at the 7-Eleven in the 700 block of Greenway S.E.; and two on June 9, one at 5:20 a.m. at the same store, and another at 6:30 p.m. a Hollywood Video store in the 7700 block of Ritchie Highway. A customer at the 7-Eleven recognized him June 13 in a police flier made from a security video there, police said.

Man gets six months for texting 11-year-old

A Wicomico County man has been sentenced to six months in jail for sending texts messages to an 11-year-old girl asking for nude photos of herself. Forty-three-year-old Antonio Jay White Sr. of Mardela Springs had pleaded guilty to contributing to a child in need of assistance - he would have led her to engage in an illicit act. He was sentenced on Monday in Wicomico County Circuit Court to three years in prison with all but six months suspended. Authorities say While sent more than 20 inappropriate text messages to the girl in February. The girl told her mother, who alerted police.
