Howard violin teacher accused of sexual assault

A 67-year-old Howard County violin instructor has been charged with sexually abusing an 11-year-old female student over a two-month period this spring, although the child's mother accompanied her to the lessons. Howard County police said Ming Yueh Liang, of Ellicott City, was charged with eight counts each of fourth-degree sex offenses, and second-degree assault. He was released on unsecured bond. Police said the child and her mother told them that the instructor touched the student repeatedly during lessons between March and May. Police said the mother reported that she was in Liang's home at the time, but had an obstructed view of the girl and the teacher. He was arrested and released June 19 after seeing a court commissioner. Liang was not available for comment today. Police did not identify the child, who is a juvenile. Police ask that anyone else who may have been victimized come forward and call the department at 410-313-3200.
