Annapolis man critical after motorcycle crash

A motorcyclist was in critical but stable condition Monday at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after police said he lost control of his bike Sunday night near Annapolis. Barry Eugene Strausbaugh, 59, of the 700 block of Whitehall Plains Road in Annapolis was turning left onto westbound Route 665 from northbound Riva Road about 10:15 p.m. when his motorcycle struck a curb, causing him to lose control, Anne Arundel County police said. The motorcycle hit a guardrail, and Strausbaugh fell off as the bike went over the rail, according to police. He was flown to Shock Trauma.

Three Columbia men stabbed during fight after soccer game

Three men were stabbed after watching a Saturday night adult soccer game at the Brooklyn Park Youth Athletic Association Park in Brooklyn Park, Anne Arundel County police said Monday. The victims, from Columbia, told police that after the game, a fight broke out about 10:20 p.m. between the victims and several men, and their assailants injured them using pocket knives before running away. Two victims suffered cuts to their legs; one was cut in the abdomen. All were treated at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore and released, police said.

Man shot in arm at 7-Eleven in Northeast Baltimore

A man was shot in the right arm early Monday during what police said they believe was an attempted robbery at a convenience store in Northeast Baltimore. No arrests have been made in the 2 a.m. shooting at a 7-Eleven in the 4900 block of Harford Road. The man, who police did not identify, was taken to a local hospital, where he was in fair condition, according to authorities.

Aberdeen, Howard County sites added to BRAC

Sites in Aberdeen and Howard County have been added to a Maryland program to help build infrastructure for incoming military jobs. Maryland is preparing for an influx of up to 60,000 jobs by 2015 as part of the military base realignment and closure process, also known as BRAC. Under the plan, the state will provide tax credits to encourage development. Aberdeen's zone includes the 800,000-square-foot Class A North Gate Business Park. Howard County's zone includes the 13-acre Savage Towne Centre. The five other areas previously announced are in Baltimore, Odenton in Anne Arundel County, land near Andrews Air Force Base, historic Frederick and Laurel.
