The free 2009-2010 edition of Services for Seniors, Adults With Disabilities and Caregivers is available at the Heritage Office Complex, 2666 Riva Road, fourth floor, Annapolis, and the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities' seven senior activity centers, county public libraries and Giant Food stores. Home safety workshops : The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities will hold home safety workshops from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and June 18 and 25 at the Brooklyn Park Senior Center, 202 Hammonds Lane, Brooklyn Park. The workshops will discuss recipes for disaster - clutter, falling and medication management. To register call 410-222-4464, ext. 3043.

Wellness workshops : Tai Sophia Institute will hold wellness workshops this month. The institute is a private nonprofit organization at 7750 Montpelier Road in Laurel. Founded in 1975 as a small healing arts clinic, the institute provides graduate academic programs, continuing education, community wellness programs and clinical services in acupuncture, nutrition and herbal medicine. Alex the Alligator : The Anne Arundel County Department of Health's sun safety mascot will visit county library branches to teach children ages 3 to 6 about sun safety. During each 30-minute presentation, department community health educators and Alex the Alligator will share a story, offer tips on avoiding too much sun exposure and play a game with the group. Children can help Alex choose what to wear for different seasons using a magnetic storyboard, and they will receive a surprise from Alex.

Dance fitness classes : Sponsored by the Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks Department and Bio Aerobics Inc., for adults and teens, will begin June 15 and run for eight weeks (16 classes). Medicare assistance: Learn to use online tools to monitor health insurance claims status and to effectively evaluate Medicare Part D drug plans in the "Navigating the Medicare Website" class. Representatives from the Senior Health Insurance Assistance program will instruct the class. Offered by the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities. Classes will be held 9:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Wednesday and June 24 at the Pascal Senior Activity Center, 125 Dorsey Road, Glen Burnie. Call to register at 410-222-6680.
