Memphis says it found no evidence of wrongdoing

Memphis says it should keep the victories from the 2007-08 season that ended in the national title game after an internal investigation turned up no proof that a former men's basketball player cheated on his SAT. "Certainly, the University of Memphis should not suffer a financial penalty or vacation of records for the 2008 NCAA tournament as a result of this allegation," a report detailing the school's investigation into NCAA allegations said. The report, released to the Associated Press and other news outlets under a public-records request, details Memphis' internal probe into accusations that a former player allowed a stand-in to take his SAT. The report also looked into charges of grade tampering on behalf of the player. An attorney for former Memphis star Derrick Rose has acknowledged that Rose cooperated with an investigation of similar allegations while still a student. Rose, the overall No. 1 pick in the 2008 NBA draft and the Rookie of the Year, was the point guard for the Memphis team that lost to Kansas in the title game.

Arkansas men's basketball: : Former Razorbacks guard Patrick Beverley repeated his earlier claim that somebody wrote a paper for him while he was with Arkansas, but he backed off comments he had made that implicated teammates. "I want to clear the line. I took full responsibility. I don't know what happened with another player," said Beverley, who was working out with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Beverley was suspended in August and then left Arkansas to play for a Ukrainian team. Beverley said recently, in a video interview with DraftExpress, that "someone from Arkansas was doing papers" for him and some teammates.

Tennessee men's basketball: : Forward Tyler Smith said he might consider playing professional basketball overseas next season if the price is right. Smith, who has one year of eligibility left, has said he plans to participate in the NBA draft June 25 but has until June 15 to withdraw his name and maintain his college eligibility.

Navy football: : Senior safety Darius Terry was dismissed from the team for an unspecified violation of team rules, and junior outside linebacker Travis Sudderth is leaving the academy. Terry was expected to compete for a starting position in the secondary.

Boston College football: : Quarterback Dominique Davis is transferring after his academic suspension. The school said he has not decided where he will go.
