Belly dancing classes

Family activities
Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department offers activities for children and families at the recreation center, 9 St. Mary's St.
"Eight Ways to Protect the Bay": Learn about some of the Chesapeake Bay's biggest pollution problems and ways to be part of the solution. 3:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. June 8.
Summer camp registration is being accepted. Day camps, kids' camps and an Xtreme Teen Camp are available.

Hiking skills class
Participants can learn basic map reading and compass skills as well as how to prepare for a hike, and what to do if they get lost with "Finding Your Way: Basic Hiking Skills for Young Hikers," 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the McKeldin Area of Patapsco Valley State Park, 11676 Marriottsville Road. Golf tournament
The Friends of the Light House Shelter will host the annual golf tournament June 12 at the Compass Pointe Golf Course in Pasadena to benefit Anne Arundel County's homeless shelter for women, men and children. Tee time is 8 a.m.; cost is $150 per player. Call 410-268-4251 or go to friendslhs.org.
United Way
In the second round of funding from its Emergency Response Fund, the United Way of Central Maryland is distributing $26,000 to three Anne Arundel County nonprofits.
* Anne Arundel Economic Opportunity Committee: $10,000 to provide up to 50 people with utility assistance.
* YWCA Annapolis and Anne Arundel County: $10,000 to help up to 95 people with supportive services.
* Sarah's House: $6,000 to provide up to 60 homeless people in a shelter with needed services.

Historic house tours
The Ann Arrundell County Historical Society has opened the historic Benson-Hammond House and North Browse and Buy Shoppe at Aviation Boulevard and Andover Road in Linthicum for the season.
Tours are offered from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays. Group tours are given by appointment.
