Man faces felony drug charges after traffic stop

A 28-year-old Annapolis man faces felony drug charges after a routine traffic stop early Wednesday led to the discovery of 5 ounces of cocaine and more than $14,500 in cash hidden inside the vehicle he was driving, according to Maryland State Police. Michael J. Jackson of the first block of College Creek Terrace has been charged with importing cocaine into the state, possession with intent to distribute the drug and possession of cocaine, police said. He was being held at the Harford County Detention Center on $50,000 bond. A state trooper stopped Jackson about 1 a.m. Wednesday on southbound Interstate 95 in Harford County, and a scan by a police dog indicated drugs were in the 2003 Ford Crown Victoria, according to authorities. The cocaine found in the car has a street value of $5,000, police said. During a subsequent search of Jackson's home, police said they found three shotguns, four rifles, two handguns and drug packaging material, along with $20,000 in cash. The investigation continues, according to police.
