Battle Of The Bulge Survivor Was A Public Health Administrator And Licensed Psychologist

He wrote numerous scientific papers and belonged to professional organizations.

In retirement, he participated in the Veterans History Project at the American Folklife Center in the Library of Congress.

In 2001 and 2007, he and his family members visited the battlefields where he had fought. On his final visit, he was one of three veterans able to be present for the dedication of the 17th Airborne Division Monument near Bastogne.

After visiting the American cemetery, he wrote to his children, "The spirits of these men and women are pleased to have the children of their brothers and sisters visit and to honor their gift of life and love. The orchards and vineyards and grazing fields send down roots that bring rich crops. And the fields of flowers remind you that life is [beautiful] and has a season."

A life celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Vantage House, 5400 Vantage Point Road, Columbia.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years; two sons, David Imre of Monkton and Robert Imre of Ellicott City; and three granddaughters.
