Man, 84, was fatally beaten with his own walking stick

An 84-year-old homeless man, found dead behind a Northwest Baltimore gas station Sunday, was fatally beaten with his own walking stick, according to court records. Hector Jose Posada, 35, of Pikesville was ordered held without bond Wednesday, a day after he was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Lucio Solorzano. Police said Posada and Solorzano got into an argument about 7 p.m. Sunday in a wooded area behind a Texaco station in the 7000 block of Reisterstown Road. A witness told detectives that Posada, of the 3900 block of Labyrinth Road, grabbed Solorzano's walking stick and struck him in the head about 15 times, according to charging documents. Attempts to locate relatives of Solorzano were unsuccessful.

FOR THE RECORD - Because incorrect information was provided by police, an article in yesterday's editions mischaracterized 84-year-old homicide victim Lucio Solorzano as homeless. The Baltimore Sun regrets the errors.
