Play It Again

Triple threats

The Royals and Orioles each delivered a rare stand-up triple by the bottom of the third inning. Orioles outfielder Felix Pie did it in the second, lining a ball into the left-center-field gap to score Ty Wigginton for the game's first run. David DeJesus tripled to lead off the third and scored Kansas City's first run on a groundout by John Buck. The Royals added a second triple in the eighth when Buck hit a liner to left-center that nicked off the glove of a diving Pie and scored DeJesus with the eventual winning run.

Staying in control

When Koji Uehara walked Coco Crisp with two outs in the third, it was the first time he had issued an unintentional free pass in 32 1/3 innings. The streak dates to the fourth inning on April 19, when he walked Boston's Kevin Youkilis.

On deck

The Orioles get a day off Monday and then make their debut in the new Yankee Stadium on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. Brad Bergesen (1-1, 5.27 ERA) makes his sixth big league start. CC Sabathia (3-3, 3.70) pitches for New York. Sabathia is 6-1 with a 2.67 ERA in 11 career starts against the Orioles.
