Event takes place 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday at the East Columbia 50+ Center, 6600 Cradlerock Way. Participants receive a 12-point evaluation that examines how well drivers fit into their vehicles. A technician will examine the vehicle and make suggestions on steering-wheel height, seats and mirrors, with safety in mind. To schedule an appointment, call 410-313-7680.

Relay for Life

Support Relay for Life by eating at Michael's Pub in Kings Contrivance Shopping Center, 8630 Guilford Road, 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday. Mention Relay for Life when ordering, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. For more information, call 410-381-3184.

Library events

Participants in the Morning Books with Coffee book club will discuss The Maytrees by Annie Dillard, at 10 a.m. May 27.

The Anime Club, a monthly get-together for anime fans ages 13 to 18, meets 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 28. Information: 410-313-7700.

The Howard County Library's 5K and Family Fun Run starts at 8 a.m. May 30 at the East Columbia Branch, 6600 Cradlerock Way. Individual registration is $25 in advance, $30 after Friday; family registration is $35 in advance, $40 after Friday.

After the race, stay for refreshments, chances to win door prizes and the library's summer reading kickoff from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will entertainment, children's activities and more.

Singles social group

The Phoenix Cultural Singles Group, a Columbia social group for those 50 and older, meets from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Sundays at the Oakland Mills Interfaith Center, 5885 Robert Oliver Place in the Oakland Mills Village Center.

Coffee, tea and a light snack are served.

The group plans activities and trips to places of interest, such as the White House, a weeklong vacation in Ocean City and dancing to the music of the Glenn Miller Orchestra at Turf Valley Resort.

Single again : Changing Focus/Single Again, a nonprofit program for adults who are separated, widowed or in the process of divorce, provides weekly presentations and small-group discussions in a confidential, comfortable atmosphere. The group meets at 7 p.m. Mondays at First Presbyterian Church, 9325 Presbyterian Circle, Columbia. An orientation for new members is offered at 6:30 p.m. A social worker meets with the group, which breaks into smaller groups to discuss the topic of the week. www.changingfocus.org.

Chair yoga : The East Columbia 50-Plus Center at the east Columbia library, 6600 Cradlerock Way, will offer "Chair Yoga," an easy introduction to yoga that helps to ease the pain of arthritis, reduce fatigue and improve circulation and breathing, at 10 a.m. Tuesdays. Belly dance : The East Columbia 50 Plus Center offers a belly dance class from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays. Instructor Camila Karam will teach hip movements, stretches, arm and hand technique, and veil dancing. The cost is $25 a month.
