Stars in D.C. for premiere of 'Night at the Museum'
The exhibits didn't come to life, but they were about the only things inanimate at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum Thursday night, as Washington's most popular tourist attraction played host to the world premiere of Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.
Stars were everywhere, and not the celestial kind. Ben Stiller, dapper in a black-vested suit, had to be yanked inside the museum, unwilling as he was to stop posing with the crowd of hopeful stargazers gathered outside. Robin Williams, who reprises his role as Teddy Roosevelt, posed inside with a handful of lucky children, indulging their parents' wish to have a souvenir of such a close encounter with Hollywood royalty. Amy Adams, new to the franchise as aviator Amelia Earhart, charmed everyone within earshot, looking glamorous in a light-blue, floor-length dress. Owen Wilson, back as a tiny cowboy with big ambitions, waved a lot, but generally kept to himself. Ricky Gervais, who once again plays a museum curator, cracked jokes about everything from the museum to the world financial crisis, and found himself playing to an appreciative pre-film audience.
