A 32-year-old man died early Saturday after being shot in the chest and hip in one of three overnight Baltimore shootings that took place within an hour.
The victim who died, Christopher Ricks, was found at 2:20 a.m. in the 2000 block of Kennedy Ave. in East Baltimore and was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital in critical condition, according to Detective Donny Moses, a spokesman for the Police Department. Ricks, who lived on the 1200 block of Bonaparte Ave., was pronounced dead about 6 a.m.
Less than half an hour later, police received a call about an incident in a parking garage on North Paca Street, just north of Baltimore Street. A 47-year-old employee of the garage reported that he had been shot in the hand by two men who had burst into a garage office and attempted to rob him.
During a struggle, Moses said, one of the robbers fired a gun, injuring the employee. He was taken to Union Memorial Hospital, where his injury was deemed nonlife-threatening. Moses said the case was being investigated, and he did not know whether the robbers got away with any money.
Within minutes of that incident, officers were summoned about 3 a.m. to the 1700 block of Homestead Ave., where they found a 26-year-old man who had been shot in the upper torso and leg. Moses said the victim was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was listed in serious condition.
"The detectives are still working it, trying to speak to witnesses," Moses said.
Police also identified a man fatally shot Friday afternoon on the 3100 block of Montebello Terrace. Moses said Anthony Griffin, 23, had suffered gunshot wounds to the upper torso and back. Griffin, of the 2700 block of Wildberger Ave. in Parkville, was pronounced dead at 2:54 p.m. Friday at Hopkins Hospital.
There have been no arrests in connection with any of the incidents, Moses said.
