Help with grieving : Hospice of the Chesapeake's Spiritual & Bereavement Care Center has bereavement support groups. In partnership with Baltimore Washington Medical Center, a bereavement support group for widows and widowers will meet 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays, May 20 through June 24, at the Spiritual & Bereavement Care Center's Annapolis offices, 445 Defense Highway.
Registration is required. The fee for the six-week support group is $60, except for families whose loved one was cared for by Hospice of the Chesapeake. 410-987-2129.
Support groups : Baltimore Washington Medical Center and the American Cancer Society will offer "Man-to-Man," a monthly support group for men and their significant others to learn about prostate cancer. The program is offered 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month in the Tate Center Conference Room. Meetings are scheduled for Monday and June 8, July 13, Aug. 10, Sept. 14, Oct. 12, Nov. 9 and Dec. 14. Light refreshments will be provided. * The center offers a stroke support group for survivors, those at high risk of stroke, and anyone interested in learning more about recovery from stroke and prevention. The group meets 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be Tuesday. Information: 410-787-4457.
* A caregiver support group meets 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each month in the Tate Center Conference Room. Meetings will be held Wednesday and June 10, July 8, Aug. 12, Sept. 9, Oct. 14, Nov. 11 and Dec. 9. Guest speakers, discussions and presentations on community resources are planned. Arthritis walk : The 16th annual Annapolis Arthritis Walk to benefit the Arthritis Foundation of Southern Maryland will be held Saturday at Quiet Waters Park. Olympic gymnast Mary Lou Retton will participate in the "Let's Move Together" walk. Proceeds will help fund educational seminars, informational brochures and aquatic and exercise programs in Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles and St. Mary's counties, and support new research. The theme of the walk is "Kids Get Arthritis & Dogs Too."
