'Drama' Hits Big Stage

Horse With Lofty Goals Is First Preakness Entry To Arrive

May 07, 2009|By a Baltimore Sun staff writer

Big Drama's versatility is what the Fawkeses like best.

"He's very push-button to ride," Celia said. "He's very responsive. He'll do anything you ask him, whether it's sprint or go two turns. He does like to lay close to the pace, but he's got such a good turn of foot. ... He's very, very smart."

Monterrey rode Big Drama twice, followed by Paco Lopez (three times) and Coa (twice). Because Coa will be aboard Musket Man in the Preakness, David Fawkes will put John Velazquez on his horse.
